The president of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region signaled the likely resumption of oil exports next month, the latest optimism that an almost two-year shutdown that cost the nation some $19 billion in lost revenue could soon be over.
In an interview with Bloomberg News, Nechirvan Idris Barzani said he’ll discuss the matter further with Turkish officials in Erbil in the coming days. That could pave the way for a resumption of roughly 300,000 barrels per day in exports, though more negotiations with Baghdad will determine how much gets allocated for domestic consumption, he added.
