On Tuesday, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, expressed the region's readiness to provide all kinds of assistance and as much as possible to the areas affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey recently, praising at the same time Ankara's role in standing with Kurdistan in many stages, which he described as difficult.
President Nechirvan Barzani said in a joint press conference he held with the governor of the city of "Diluk" and the deputy governor upon his arrival in Turkey, "My presence here comes to express my condolences and share sorrows with the Turkish people and the affected people," adding, "In the name of President Masoud Barzani and in the name of the people of Kurdistan, we extend our deepest condolences to every family that lost a loved one, and we hope for a speedy recovery for the injured.
He added, "Turkey's government and people stood with us in all the bad circumstances and difficult stages that we went through."
Nechirvan Barzani continued by saying that "because of the tragedy that befell here, There is a funeral in Every home in the Kurdistan Region, celebrations and manifestations of joy were canceled to share the sorrows of those affected in Turkey," stressing that "Turkey participated in the Kurdistan Region on many occasions, whether through good or bad."
He also said, "We are in the Kurdistan Region, as much as possible, trying to extend a helping hand to Turkey, and here we would like to thank the Kurdistan Regional Government and all the private sector for the assistance it provided."
The head of the region affirmed that "the Turkish government and the Turkish president are standing diligently to rectify the situation in the affected areas," noting that "Turkey is a great country and will certainly be able to overcome this crisis with its head held high."
