The Middle East is a region where politics is often connected with conflict, competition, and the struggle for power. In such an environment, Nechirvan Barzani has developed a political style that is built on a different idea: strength does not always have to come through confrontation.

His approach gives great importance to dialogue, patience, balance, and respect.

One of the clearest examples is his relationship with Baghdad. Even when there are serious disagreements between Erbil and Baghdad, Barzani continues to support negotiation and political solutions. He has described Baghdad as the place where the problems of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq should be solved.

His foreign policy also shows a strong belief in balance. He has maintained communication with different powers, including Iran, the United States, and European countries. His meetings with Iranian leaders in 2026, for example, focused on relations, cooperation, stability, and dialogue. At the same time, he has continued his diplomatic communication with American and European representatives.

For the Kurdistan Region, this approach is important. It is surrounded by powerful countries with different interests. Instead of closing the door to one side because of relations with another, Barzani's style is to keep communication open while protecting Kurdish interests.

Another important part of his politics is coexistence. He has repeatedly spoken about respect between different communities and the importance of living together peacefully.

But perhaps the strongest part of his political style is the way he understands strength.

He does not see peace as weakness. He sees peace as strength.

A leader does not always need to raise his voice to show power. Sometimes, real political strength is sitting with people who disagree with you, listening to them, and still standing firmly for your own interests.

This is what makes Nechirvan Barzani an interesting figure in international relations. His policy can be described as balance without isolation, dialogue without surrender, and strength without unnecessary confrontation.

In a region where political doors can close very quickly, he has chosen to keep them open.

Because sometimes the strongest hand in politics is not the hand that closes the door — it is the hand that keeps it open.
